If that is your calling or if you are just interested in politics, come learn the basics of campaign work, policy, and debate. There are many elements to a successful campaign. We will explore tactics and strategies needed in campaign work. Local officeholders and political consultants will contribute real world perspectives on political work.
Teams of students will create a campaign for a “candidate” running for governor. To identify major issues, we will learn the basics of polling and put it into practice polling other campers. The “candidate” will select the winning campaign.
The political world is also about public policy and debate. There is no better place to work on these skills than a mock legislative session! We will blend the skills of writing, debate, persuasion, and interpersonal communication. Writing bills, parliamentary procedure, and legislative decorum are all part of the process.
Come join us and jump into the exciting world of politics!
