Bruins Cross Country Running Camp

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING CAMP
June 10-13, 2023
Daily: 8 am - 11:00 am (Morning Session)  |  1 pm - 4 pm (Afternoon Session)

About:
The Bruins Running Camp offers both novice and experienced runners an exciting opportunity to train for a week in one of the top running communities in the South. Outside of daily workouts, campers will have the opportunity to learn about running techniques, injury prevention, training methods and race strategy. It is a great way to prepare for the upcoming cross country season or a future race. Runners of all levels are welcome to be a part of this challenging and fun camp.

Dates:
June 10-13

Attendees:
3rd - 5th grade - Mornings (boys and girls) 
6th - 8th grade - Afternoons (boys and girls)


Cost:
$125 ($150 after May 1)

Check-in Time:
June 12 - 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. in lower lobby of the Davis Field House
June 12 - 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. in lower lobby of the Davis Field House

Camp Ends:
11 a.m. each day of camp (morning session)
4 p.m. each day of camp (afternoon session)

What to expect:

  • Develop proper running technique.
  • Run at Bruins XC course and travel to other nearby running trails
  • Learn how to prevent injury through proper form and stretching.
  • Participate in strength and conditioning drills to increase endurance.
  • Develop race strategy to influence competition.
  • Learn training methods to help reach full potential.
  • Gain confidence to be an effective competitor in the proper spirit of Christian sportsmanship.

What to Bring:

  • Towel
  • Water bottle
  • Trainers, socks (extra)
  • Shorts
  • T-shirts
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses

Meet Head Coach Ken Roach:
Ken Roach joined the Bruins Cross Country and Track & Field staff in 2021. In his career, Coach Roach has lead teams to a NACA HS National Championship, 4 Independent HS Championships, and 4 collegiate appearances in the NJCAA National XC Championships. Through his years as head coach, Coach Roach's focus has been connecting the playing field to life building discipline of working consistency and improvement while also understanding growth in God's word and his promising abundance takes the same discipline.
