MEN'S BASKETBALL INDIVIDUAL SKILLS CAMP
June 17-20, 2024

About:

The focus of this camp is to allow the player to get to know the BJU Bruin basketball philosophy, personnel and atmosphere while challenging campers on the court with advanced offensive and defensive strategies. Specific emphasis is placed on developmental skills and drills for each position. Biblical application of life lessons from the hardwood are ingrained each day through devotional times. A concentrated effort is made to challenge athletes physically and spiritually to continue to develop their abilities on and off the court.

Attendees:

Men grades 9-12 or college-bound players

Cost:
$300 ($325 after May 1)

Check-in Time:

Monday, June 17 from 1-2 pm in the lower lobby of Davis Field House

Camp Ends:
Thursday at 12 pm

What to expect:
  • Speed and plyometric training
  • Development of tactical components of the game
  • Exposure to collegiate philosophy of offense and defense
  • Focus on fundamentals and individual skill improvement
  • Play quality, competitive games that put instruction into action
  • Gain confidence to be an effective competitor in the proper spirit of Christian sportsmanship
  • Classroom sessions containing both film and character-building exercises
  • Strength training
  • Grow spiritually through devotional and Bible challenges

  • Bedding/Towels

  • Basketball gear (no tank tops allowed in dining hall but can be worn during sessions)

Meet Coach Uwarow:
Burton Uwarow, a graduate of Bob Jones University, has over 20 years of combined coaching experience. Before joining the Bruins staff in 2017, Coach Uwarow coached for eight seasons at Creekside Christian Academy McDonough, Georgia. While there, he transformed the program as the team won three Division I-AA State Championships. Coach Uwarow has had several players go on to play NCAA, NAIA and NCCAA ball while several have reached professional level while playing overseas. He believes athletics to be a platform for glorifying God and building character and confidence in student-athletes.
